About Our Poker Tournaments

At Compassion Connections, our poker tournaments are more than just a game — they’re a way to bring people together while raising vital funds to support families in need. Each event is designed to create an exciting, welcoming atmosphere where players of all levels can enjoy the thrill of poker while knowing their buy-in is making a meaningful impact.

We currently host three weekly poker tournaments across Winnipeg and Selkirk, with each event offering structured gameplay, professional hosting, and great prizes. Our Sunday Double Stack Tournament is in collaboration with Trip Aces Poker Tour, who also supports our mission and purpose.

Every entry fee, re-buy, or add-on goes directly toward our mission — providing resources, programs, and support to families who are facing difficult times. By taking a seat at the table, you’re helping us fund initiatives that bring hope, relief, and compassion to our community.

Whether you’re a seasoned card player or just looking for a fun night out, our poker tournaments are the perfect way to enjoy the game, meet new people, and give back to those who need it most. Join us, go all in for a cause, and make every hand count.

How It Works

Getting into the game is simple! Whether you pre-register online or sign up at the venue, we make sure the process is smooth and easy:

  1. Pre-Register Online (Recommended):

    • Fill out our quick online registration form (see below) to reserve your seat in advance.

    • Pre-registering helps our organizers plan the event, ensuring we have the appropriate number of dealers and tables.

    • Please note: Pre-registration alone does not guarantee you a spot unless you have pre-paid.

  2. Arrive Early:

    • Players who have not pre-registered are recommended to arrive 30 minutes before the start time to sign up on-site.

    • This ensures enough time to complete registration before cards are in the air.

  3. Pay Your Buy-In:

    • Pay your tournament fee (and any optional re-buys/add-ons, if applicable).

    • 75% of all entries go straight into the prize pool, making our tournaments some of the most rewarding poker events around.

  4. Grab Your Player Card:

    • Once registered, you’ll receive your official player card and be assigned a table and seat number.

  5. Take Your Seat & Play:

    • Sit down, shuffle up, and get ready to enjoy a fun and competitive game of poker — all while helping families in need.

What makes us different?

At Compassion Connections, we believe poker should be fun, fair, and for a purpose. Here’s why our tournaments stand out:

  • 75% Payouts: Every tournament pays out 75% of entries to the prize pool, making ours one of the most rewarding poker tournaments in Manitoba.

  • Honesty & Transparency: We pride ourselves on running fair, honest games where players always know what to expect. Our rules are available to all players at any time at any venue, ensuring transparency and trust at every event.

  • Local & Community-Driven: We are local and rooted in our community. Our tournaments are run solely by volunteers and staff, which helps eliminate the “middle man” and allows us to put more money into prize pools and charitable support.

  • Friendly, Hometown Vibes: Our games have a supportive, welcoming atmosphere. New players feel comfortable learning the ropes, while seasoned players enjoy a competitive but relaxed environment.

  • Professional Structure & Trained Dealers: Every tournament is structured to run smoothly, with trained dealers and pit bosses carefully overseeing the action to keep things fair, fast, and fun.

  • Great Venues with Great Food: We host our tournaments in some of Manitoba’s best venues, offering homestyle food, great service, and a warm environment to relax between hands.

  • Exciting Formats & Extras: From bounty games with added prizes to Chase the Ace, 50/50 draws, and accumulators, our tournaments keep the action exciting and give players even more chances to win.

  • Generous Chip Stacks & Timed Blinds: We give players the best structure possible for a fun, competitive experience that balances playability with excitement.

We’re also open to collaborations and fundraisers! If you’d like to work with us to host a special poker event, please contact us for more information.

Where the Money Goes

When you play in our poker tournaments, you’re doing more than just competing for prize money — you’re directly supporting Compassion Connections’ mission and vision.

The funds raised through our tournaments go right back into our community by:

  • Offering emergency assistance to families facing loss, illness, or hardship

  • Providing resources and connections that ease the burden during difficult times

  • Creating a network of care and compassion where families can find strength in one another

Every chip stacked, every hand played, and every tournament entered helps us bring hope, relief, and connection to families who need it most.
