Honouring the Life & Legacy of Tyrone Keen
This past weekend, Compassion Connections Foundation was honoured to host a very special memorial poker tournament in memory of Tyrone Keen — a night filled with community, connection, generosity, and remembrance.
What was originally hoped to be a packed room and meaningful fundraiser became so much more than that. The love, support, and turnout from our community was truly incredible, and we know Tyrone would have been deeply honoured by the evening.
From friends and family to supporters near and far, the room was filled with people who came together not only to play poker, but to celebrate a life that meant so much to so many.
To the Keen family, thank you for being there and for letting us be a part. Tyrone’s mom Peggy, his daughters Paige and Kyla, along with other family members and friends were present. It was wonderful to meet you and have you there!
We will be meeting with Paige and Kyla early this week to present them with the proceeds from the fundraiser.
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, sponsored, shared the event, and helped make the evening such a success.
To the dealers, volunteers & support staff, thank you. You worked nonstop, kept the games running smooth, and handled the room with class.
To every player who bought in, rebought, played cash, or jumped in a sit n’ go, thank you for showing up. You brought the energy, the competition, and the heart that Tyrone would’ve loved.
Thank you to Trip Aces Poker Tour, Keystone Poker, and Long Plain First Nation for your time, sponsorship and support in making the tournament a success.
The prize table was stacked, the 50/50 was huge, and the silent auction blew us away.
A very special thank you goes out to our sponsors and supporters:

Events like these remind us how powerful community truly is. In moments of grief, people come together to support one another, share stories, lift each other up, and honour the lives of those we love.
Tyrone’s memory brought people together in such a beautiful way, and we are incredibly grateful to have been part of an evening that reflected so much love, compassion, and community spirit.
From the bottom of our hearts — thank you.
Thank you for showing up, and helping us honour Tyrone Keen’s legacy in such a meaningful way.
